David Tyndall

FOUNDER AND CEO

David is the Founder and CEO of Collaborative Real Estate, a full-service real estate firm specializing in innovation districts and university-anchored real estate. Working for over 40 years in real estate and development, moving from construction field engineer to company owner, David has learned firsthand what it takes to produce and maintain quality buildings. As CEO, David maintains daily involvement in all of Collaborative Real Estate’s property management, leasing, and development services. His specific experience in building and managing university-based research and commercialization facilities – including 20+ years of managing (and officing daily in) the Technology Square area of Midtown Atlanta, combined with his past experience as a real estate attorney, venture investor, and commercial contractor to give David unique insight into the needs of technology-related developers, landlords, property managers, and tenants. David has spent the last decade crafting very specialized management and operational techniques that Collaborative uses to ensure the continuous delivery of the engagement and collaboration value owners, tenants, and visitors are looking for – even long after the hardhats and cranes are gone.

Known in the industry as a thoughtful and innovative manager of innovation-related real estate as well as a successful developer and investor in those asset sub-classes, David is a frequently invited speaker for national and international organizations and associations on the subjects of creating collaborative real estate environments, issues of coordinating the needs and constraints of academic and corporate researchers, and future trends in the role of culture and community in the workplace generally.

  • Jordan Peterson

    CHIEF PROPERTY OPERATIONS OFFICER

Jordan leads our Property Management, Community Activation, Maintenance Engineering, and Communications services. With 17 years of experience in corporate and institutional real estate, Jordan joined Collaborative after serving as Vice President of Real Estate for The University Financing Foundation, where he became passionate about focusing his real estate career on university-anchored research properties and innovation districts. Jordan was previously Senior Vice President of Corporate Real Estate for Truist Financial, where his organization managed both day-to-day operations along with asset and portfolio strategy for 22 million square feet of space across 2,400 properties. Jordan’s experience engaging with university, business, and civic leadership coupled with his ability to connect seemingly minor operational details to “big picture” strategic considerations makes him naturally gravitate toward the relationships of our properties with the broader research and community ecosystems that surround them.

  • Joe Sorbet

    DIRECTOR OF ENGINEERING

Joe has been employed as a facility maintenance professional for 44 years, including positions with Hines, ING Clarion Realty Services and Affiliated Building Services at Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport. A seasoned veteran in virtually every type of building system, Joe is typically highly active in our initial acquisition or project setup, including project acceptance, commissioning or retro-commissioning, and preventative maintenance program design. As much as Joe is a teacher, mentor, and coach to all of our engineering personnel, he also combines incessantly increasing standards of performance with an infectious high energy level to propel all our properties to ever-improving efficiencies. A disciple of the measure-it-to-manage-it school, Joe maintains line of sight into each and every one of our properties’ performance. He is constantly in search of more and better performance data and more and better ways to act on the gained insights into system optimization.

Andrea is a tenacious and detailed-oriented accounting professional with 10 years of experience in public and commercial real estate accounting. Andrea is highly dependable and possesses an excellent work ethic, combining a strong understanding of business metrics-that-matter with the meticulous quest for bookkeeping “truth” that all great accountants have. She oversees our staff of property accountants, interacts daily with the property management team members on budgeting as well as transaction monitoring and reporting. With a mind capable of both rule-adherence and innovative possibilities, Andrea is also a valued member of our internal team charged with constantly seeking out better approaches to building and community management.

  • Lorin Willen

    DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS AND CULTURE

Effective communications are a foundational element to effective tenant and community engagement, and Lorin brings a tremendous set of skills and instincts to all of our projects. She joined Collaborative in 2020, just at the onset of the pandemic, and we immediately challenged her to join us in revamping many of our approaches in light of our new, primarily virtual environment. Understanding that connections are the key to collaboration, Lorin has installed a dedication and regimentation to the work of our entire team, ensuring all communications – from newsletters, to event promotions, to ownership reports, to building PSAs – are effective and recorded. As we have learned, the positive impacts of community activation need not be limited to those who are able to participate physically and can be amplified through professional recording, dissemination, and publication.
