INTERDISCIPLINARY ENGAGEMENT

We believe buildings set the stage for collaboration and collision, but connecting people requires intentional programming.

Our devotion to community building through collaboration initiatives focuses on the creative use of common spaces – both indoor and outdoor – that each property has available and utilizes multi-channel communications to connect entities, and more importantly, to connect people.

Collaborative’s playbook for activating the physical space by engaging researchers and innovators is rooted in unique programs we have created over the past 20 years beginning at Tech Square in Atlanta, GA. Because each local ecosystem is different, we cross-pollinate best practices from university-anchored research and innovation communities across North America and constantly seek to mix the tried-and-true with new ideas that are specific to each managed property and the members of those surrounding communities and ecosystems.

At its core, our approach seeks to:

  • Develop and continually reinforce a culture of curiosity, discovery, sharing, and collaboration among members

  • Understand the substance of scientific research, education, and innovation taking place along with potential pathways to commercialization

  • Know and catalogue the personalities and approaches to collaboration taken by individual researchers and innovators

  • Develop individual- and organizational-level plans to improve interdisciplinary interactions of tenants and community members

  • Break down silos to create meaningful connections between diverse community members that improve the outcome of their research and innovation efforts, focusing on multiple dimensions of potential connections
